Solar panel & battery storage installation

Roof arrays, hybrid inverters and storage, designed around what the property actually uses.

Solar & Battery work by Ridgeway Electrical

We survey the roof, the consumer unit and twelve months of consumption before a single panel is specified. Arrays are sized to self-consumption, not to a headline figure, and storage is added where the numbers support it.

What's included

  • MCS-standard design with shading and yield modelling
  • Hybrid inverters with battery storage from 5 kWh upward
  • G98 / G99 notification handled on your behalf
  • In-roof and on-roof mounting for conservation areas
  • Export tariff registration paperwork included

Common questions

How much roof space do I need?
A typical 4 kWp array needs around 20 m2 of unshaded roof. We model shading and yield during the survey, so you see a realistic annual generation figure before committing.
Do I need planning permission?
Most installs are permitted development. Listed buildings and conservation areas in Henley-on-Thames, Marlow and Oxford need consent, and we handle the drawings and application on your behalf.
Is a battery worth adding?
Only if your consumption pattern supports it. We look at twelve months of usage and show the payback with and without storage rather than defaulting to a battery.
How long does the install take?
Two to three days on site for a standard array with storage, including commissioning and G98/G99 notification.

Sonning, Berkshire

Victorian terrace, in-roof array and 10 kWh battery

A conservation-area terrace with a shaded south-west slope. We specified an in-roof array to keep the profile flush, paired with a hybrid inverter and 10 kWh of storage charged on an off-peak tariff.

They spent longer surveying than anyone else and were the only ones who mentioned the conservation officer before we did. Flush finish, no fuss.

Roof-mounted array for a light industrial unit

Half-hourly data showed daytime demand tracking generation almost exactly. A 60 kWp array was sized to self-consumption, with battery peak-shaving added to trim capacity charges.

The modelling was honest — they told us where the numbers didn't work as readily as where they did. Two years in, we're tracking the forecast.
